The Day of the Dead Festival, inspired by the traditional Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, draws inspiration from various cultures and embraces the beauty of diversity. As we enter our third year, this festival continues to grow and evolve, reflecting the dynamic and inclusive spirit of our community.
Festival Highlights Include:
- Authentic 6 piece Mariachi performance by Le Mariachi de Oro of Montréal
- Day of the Dead Parade: this year starting at Picaroons (pre-party 5 — 6pm), the public is invited to join in the celebratory walk down the hill to the festival’s Main Stage at the AREA 506 Waterfront Container Village. The parade honors the lives and legacies of loved ones while celebrating our city’s multicultural heritage.
- Music, culture, dance: including a traditional Mexican Bachata dance workshop and performances from around the world.
- Workshop Series: celebrating diverse traditions and crafts of the Day of the Dead, including headdress making, calavera face-painting, sugar skull and pumpkin painting, a hands-on, cultural education experience for all ages.
